Our Pastor

Rev. C. Alexis Talbott came to Homestead in July 2009 after serving 17 years in Florida Conference churches including Branford, Bartow and St. Cloud. She could not imagine doing anything else. Pastoral ministry has been in her blood even before she took her first breath or was even a twinkle in anyone’s eye but God’s. Her road to ministry began in 1765, 200 years before her own birth. George Newton, her great, great, great, great grandfather was born and grew to be a pioneer Presbyterian minister and educator. And this was just the beginning; Pastor George’s son, grandson and great grandson were pioneer Presbyterian pastors and educators too. Then two generation’s later, a Newton descendant, Joanne married not a Presbyterian but a Methodist, Pastor Bill Talbott and three years later had their second daughter, C. Alexis Talbott.

So you see, with five generations on her maternal side and a generation on her paternal side, Pastor Alexis has come from a strong line of preachers to nurture her call to ministry. She received her Bachelors of Arts at Florida Southern College and her Masters of Divinity at Drew Seminary, Madison New Jersey. Pastor Alexis grew up with her parents and her older sister, Tammy in the Baltimore Conference in Maryland, her hometown, until her family moved to the Florida Conference in 1979. She adores her wonderful teenage nephews, Elijah and John, who live in Jacksonville with their mom, Tammy, and their step dad, Steve, just seven miles from their grandparents.

Pastor Alexis loves the work that God has given her and she has fallen in love with Homestead. Her goals include being a part of creating an atmosphere of joy where Christians and those who are on the brink of making a decision to follow Christ can worship, study, work and play together to bring peace, goodness and Christ to our broken world.

Call the church office to set an appointment to share your hopes, hurts and dreams with Pastor Alexis and to hear what God is sharing with her.
